我这个星期五要上京赶考（master class examination），所以将闭关修炼，不能赴约到此，敬请包涵。

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

It is this period of the year that we get to wear really oriental clothes. Soo Hua & I were reading on the New Year’s Eve for Channel u & 8 respectively.  

No dinner was sold in the canteen but some colleagues & I brought food from home to share. It was heartwarming to eat reunion dinner with all your colleagues who have to work.

  

Introducing my “piglet” … If you have watched the movie “Amelie”, you would know what I mean. The female lead brought an ornament everywhere and took photos of it against all the different backgrounds. 

  

By the way, GOLD is the IN colour for CNY.

Flu flu go away

I always say that my nose is like a thermometer. When the weather gets chilly, I will start sneezing.

I have been sneezing quite badly the last few days. It used to work after some medicine and a good night’s sleep. But my nose has protested longer than usual this time. Seems that I have also passed the flu bug to TT and Lynne.

In the midst of all these sneezing, I did a story on the trend of 年糕 on Monday and a story on the new health products bill on Tuesday. Went to HSA for the story on the new bill, less than a week after I went there to donate blood.

My blood type is AB+. What about yours?

Went to the blood bank on Wednesday to respond to the call to donate blood during the festive season. There are usually less donors during this period and there are also more accidents recently due to the increased rainfall.

I am quite a regular donor. Been donating since I was 18 but of course there were times that I didn’t go due to committments associated with school or work or romance. By the way, I think it is rather romantic if you go donate blood with your partner.   

This time round,  as a staff was giving me an antiseptic injection, my phone rang. On one hand, I was talking to my news contact to arrange for some interviews and on the other hand, I was getting an injection. Sounds “gungho” but at that time, I was just hoping that I didn’t sound painful on the phone.

The needle looked big but it was not painful because they would give you an antiseptic injection first.

Then you squeezed on this rubber ball to help your blood flow. For ladies, the standard amount we donate is 300ml.

After resting for some time, they will give a cute bandage (I chose orange out of pink, blue, green etc) and some refreshments.
